The Band

It Makes No Difference (1975)

Sometimes it's enough to post a song for no other reason than its sheer brilliance; that's certainly the case here with The Band and their beautiful, 'It Makes No Difference'. Written by Robbie Robertson, sung so soulfully by Rick Danko, it's to be found on the album Northern Lights-Southern Cross (1976). There's also a fine live version  on the soundtrack to The Last Waltz. Here it is:

This is a song that speaks to your heart. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

The Band at their very best...I love some of RR's lyrics...wish I wrote 'The night they drove old Dixie down' simple, sweet and hits the mark...must watch the Last Waltz again and soon!

Gut-wrenching song from my youth. I've remained a fan of The Band. The Last Waltz is the first dvd I every purchased. :-)

Thanks for this!

Old Pa: I so wish Robbie hadn't given up on music for so long. Can't say I've enjoyed what I've heard of his occasional records since The Band. He was one of the very best.

Gina: 'Gut-wrenching' indeed. Slap on Band music today and we'll all go back in time.
